A summer of fossils and deception, 2020

Photoseries of four images, Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin,
310gr, 30 cm x 45 cm;

I was wandering along the promenade of a Basque coastal town.
I was impressed by the structures that were imprinted in sandstone slabs.
They seemed to be fossilized plants.
I was confused; the pedestrians seemed to be blind.

Driven by the need to preserve these disappearing images,
I set out to capture them with my camera.
At first, I was eyed with curiosity, but soon strangers joined me and
led me with their gestures to these plant-like images.

Yes, they were plant-like fossils,
so-called pseudofossils, which,
as someone told me,
are created by the pressure,  liquid and salts in the rock.“
